Questions

  1. The Compaction Compartment Lid will not open

1. The Compaction Compartment Lid will not open

Possible Cause

  • The Compaction Compartment Lid Child Safety Lock is engaged

  • The Compaction Compartment Lid Pedal Lock is engaged


Solution

  • Slide the Child Safety Lock towards the front of the unit to disengage.

  • Ensure that the Foot Pedal is in its full upright position.

2. The Foot Pedal cannot be pushed down to crush

Possible Cause

  • The Compaction Compartment Lid was inadvertently left open, engaging the Crusher Plates Safety Lock

  • You are trying to crush an item not suitable for compaction (such as soup or pet food cans, glass, etc.)

  • You have inadvertently left the cap on your plastic beverage container

  • The neck of your plastic bottle is not lined up in the correct place

  • You have not placed your compactable item in the correct direction


Solution

  • Release Foot Pedal, close Compaction Compartment Lid, and try again.

  • Only place items suitable for compaction within the compaction area.

  • Remove bottle cap and try again.

  • Line neck of the plastic bottle up with the image on the drop door.

  • Place aluminum cans in vertically, and plastic beverage bottle in horizontally, with necks lined up with image on drop door.

3. Crushed item got caught while falling down the chute or in the Drop Door

Possible Cause

Item was not thoroughly crushed


Solution

Option 1: Repeat crushing until item drops down. By holding each crush for a few seconds, crushing will be maximized.

Option 2: Once Foot Pedal is back in the up position open the lid, and with one hand hold down the Drop Door while pushing the item down the chute.

4. Paper door will not open

Possible Cause

Paper Bin might have been overfilled and paper is getting caught, not allowing door to open.


Solution

Remove the Rear Bin. Reach inside and pull out the excess paper. The Paper door should now open.

5. Bins were emptied but the LCD did not go back to "LO"

Possible Cause

Your Bins may need to be recalibrated


Solution

To recalibrate your empty bins, push the Reset Button under the LCD with a push pin for 1-5 seconds.

6. Alarm does not go off

Possible Cause

  • Alarm is not set

  • Alarm is set for every other week

  • The interval on the alarm is not set correctly, 1 is for a weekly reminder, 2 is for twice a week reminding

  • The 2 interval is set for the wrong start week


Solution

  • Ensure the Alarm Bell is visible. If it is not visible, reset the Alarm Bell (see page 15).

  • Ensure correct selection appears on screen, “1” for every week, “2” for every two weeks.

  • Check the alarm, set to the correct interval based on your needs.

  • When setting the 2 interval, the reminder will activate on the next upcoming alarm date/time. If your pickup does not start until the following week, you will need to reset it after the alarm day has passed on the non-pick up week.

7. Items have been recycled but LCD reads "LO"

Possible Cause

  • You have not reached minimum of one-half pound

  • Your bins may need to be recalibrated


Solution

More recycling is needed. Continue to recycle and the more than one-half pound weight will appear.

If you are certain you have more than one-half pound in the unit, you may need to recalibrate the Bins. Empty the Bins and replace them back into the unit. Push the Reset Button under the LCD with a push pin for 1-5 seconds.

8. The LCD Screen does not turn on

Possible Cause

Batteries are dead

1. The Bin Removal Lid does not stay up

Possible Cause

You have not put the Kickstand in place


Solution

Rotate Bin Removal Lid up to a 90° angle and gently pull the green Kickstand towards you to lock the Bin Removal Lid in place

2. The Bin Removal Lid will not close completely

Possible Cause

Waste Bin is not locked in place


Solution

  • Open the Bin Removal Lid, put the Kickstand in place, depress the Foot Pedal, and remove the Waste Bin

  • Ensure that nothing is caught beneath the Bin

  • Next depress the Foot Pedal and place the Bin securely in place

  • Close the Bin Removal Lid

3. Electronics don't come on

Possible Cause

Batteries are dead

Remove and install new batteries

5. Easy-Release™ Bin did not expand

Possible Cause

The bin has not been stuffed enough to need to expand for release.

Stuff it to the brim next time!

Possible Cause

The bin lock is engaged


Solution

To unlock the bin for removal, pop the Bin Release Lid, and then press down on the foot pedal.
