Compaction System

The Mode™ RCC-1000 series of products features a unique patent-pending compaction system to help condense certain recyclable materials, reducing the amount of space your recycling occupies. The compaction system was designed to work on:

12 oz. aluminum cans
Half-pint plastic beverage bottles
12 oz. plastic beverage bottles
16 oz. plastic beverage bottles
20 oz. plastic beverage bottles
24 oz. plastic beverage bottles
Quart plastic beverage jugs
Half-gallon plastic beverage jugs
2-liter soda bottles

How to Compact Cans or Plastic Bottles

Tap open the Compaction System Lid.

When compacting plastic bottles, place item into the compaction system horizontally, aligning the neck of the bottle with the image on the Drop Door. Place aluminum cans into the Compaction system vertically.

Close the Lid, and firmly step on the foot pedal to compact the item. You will be able to see your item crushing through the Compaction Compartment Lid. The crushed item will automatically drop down into the Rear Bin.

Compaction Safety Features

Child Safety Lock - When small children are going to be around the unit when it is not in use, it is highly recommended that you engage the Child Safety Lock, which will prevent the Compaction Lid from opening. Simply slide the lock on the side of the Compaction Lid forward.

Crushing Plates Lock – The RCC-1000 automatically locks the Crushing Plates in place when the compaction lid is open.

Compaction Lid Lock – The Compaction Lid automatically locks as soon as the foot pedal is pressed.

Clock and Recycle Day Reminder™ Feature

To help you remember when to take out your recycling, the RCC-1000 series includes a clock and reminder feature. A reminder can be set to whatever time you prefer to take out the recycling - the morning of the pick up, the night before, or whenever you designate. The reminder light will flash at the designated time to alert you that it is time to take out the recycling. It can be set to remind you either every week or every other week depending on your needs. Simply press a button to turn-off/reset the Recycle Day Reminder™. If no button is pressed the reminder will flash for approximately 2 hours. If you would prefer to disable this feature, you may do that as well. The battery icon will blink to let you know when batteries are getting low. Batteries are estimated to last approximately one year with normal use.

Eco-Track™ Feature (depending on model)

Not sure that your recycling efforts will make a difference? To show that they do make a difference, the Premium Recycling Center includes the Eco-Track™ Feature that will total your amount of recycling by weight. There are two aspects to this Eco-Track™ System.

Track feature - Pressing the "Mode" or "Set" button will display the combined weight of the recycling currently in the Bins. The Eco-Track™ System feature rounds down to the
nearest half-pound.

Recycled feature - When you empty your Bins, the "Recycled" feature will recognize that the weight of the Bins has gone to "0" and will automatically add the weight of the recycling you just took out to the total "Recycled" amount. Like a trip odometer in your car, you can reset this running total at any time, allowing you to track what you are recycling weekly, bi-monthly, monthly, annually, or even over the life of the product. Login to the "My Mode" account to journal your weekly, bi-monthly, monthly, or annual activity online!

30 Liter / 8 Gallon Rear Bin

Your compacted items will automatically drop into the rear bin. This bin can also be used to hold all non-paper items you do not wish to crush - larger items, glass, or items that are not listed on our approved compaction item list. Simply tap open the Rear By-Pass Lid and place these items into the Rear Bin.

20 Liter / 5 Gallon Paper Bin

Whether or not your town requires you to separate out your recycled paper, we recommend that you do so in order to most effectively utilize the space in the RCC-1000. The 5-gallon Paper Bin in the Mode™ RCC-1000 was specifically designed to hold your newspapers, household cardboard, and bulk mail. For added convenience, we have included an optional adjustable Paper Bin Divider to allow you to further organize your paper goods. The integrated mail slot makes easy work of recycling bulk mail and household paper.

Halfway-Up Hook

The RCC-1000 Series product line offers a unique feature designed to make emptying your Recycling Bins even easier when you use our Recyclable Bin Liners. The Halfway-Up Hook allows you to hook the bin to the side of the unit when you are ready to empty it, which means you can easily remove the Bin Liner without having to completely remove the Bin from the unit.

Nesting Bins

Nesting bins mean one-trip transporting. Take the full bins to the garage or town recycling bin in a snap. Simply lower the handles on the rear bin, and place the paper bin firmly on top!

Odor Eliminator - Carbon Filter

The Mode™ RCC-1000 comes complete with a Carbon Filter to help eliminate odors. We recommend changing the filter every 3-6 months or when you notice it losing effectiveness. Replace it by opening the Bin By-Pass Lid, sliding out the old filter, and then sliding in the new one.

Stainless Steel Accents

To keep the stainless steel portions of the unit shiny, use a special stainless steel cleaner. For a household remedy, clean the stainless steel portions with club soda and then add shine by putting a small amount of olive oil on a clean white cloth and rubbing the stainless steel in a circular motion.
